Carnegie's health and safety training program is under the umbrella of Stanford University.
We require everyone at our Departments (Plant Biology and Global Ecology) to complete the on-line Stanford Health & Safety Training*.
Please follow the instructions below.
ŘEH&S Information – This document will explain how you can access the on-line training through Stanford University
Once you have completed the on-line training courses you are required to review Carnegie’s Health & Safety Manual.
This will provide you with Carnegie specific information. Although you should review the entire manual, please review
section 7 carefully since this will provide you with Emergency Procedures in the event of an earthquake or other site disaster.
You should also carefully review section 5 regarding the Pesticide Safety if you will be working in the greenhouses at any time
during your appointment/stay at Carnegie.
ŘCarnegie Institution Environmental, Health and Safety Manual
ŘSafety Training Documentation – must be completed and signed off by your
supervisor
If you will be working with radioactive material you also need to complete the Radioactivity Training. Glenn Ford is in charge of this program for our Departments. Please complete the following form
and personally give it to Glenn so he may follow-up on your training.
ŘStatement of Training and Experience for Use of Radionuclides and Radiation Devices
*STANFORD STUDENTS PLEASE NOTE: If you have completed the on-line or other EH&S training through another Department at Stanford you
need only bring proof of completion and you can be waived from Carnegie’s requirement that you complete the on-line training.
You will not be waived from the requirement that you read the Carnegie EH&S Manual, however.
